Some local escorts were allowed to spend a night/weekend in the park, while others were only allowed during the day. As there is no public transportation in the park, access to your own transportation is essential.

During the winter months, when roads are often covered in heavy snow, it can take nerve-wracking hours to reach your destination safely. Snow makes the roads slippery and makes ATVs an unsafe way to get here securely on the high, a lot narrow, and winding mountain roads through the winter months.

The Karakoram is a mountain range in the Kashmir region that straddles the limits of Pakistan, China, and India, with the northwestern edge of the range extending into Afghanistan and Tajikistan. Most of the Karakoram Mountains fall under the jurisdiction of Gilgit-Baltistan, which is administered by Pakistan. Its world's highest (and second highest) peak K2 is situated in Gilgit-Baltistan. It starts from the Wakhan Corridor (Afghanistan) in the west, covers most of Gilgit-Baltistan, and extends to Ladakh (controlled by India) and Aksai Chin (controlled by China).

The Karakoram is the second-highest mountain range in the world and is part of a mountain chain that includes the Pamir Mountains, the Hindu Kush, and the Himalayas.

The range includes 18 peaks higher than 7,500 m (24,600 ft), four of which are over 8,000 m (26,000 ft): K2 (8,611 m (28,251 ft) AMSL) (Earth's second highest peak), Gasherbrum I, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum.

The area is around 500 km (311 mi) lengthy and is the most glaciated part on Earth outside the polar regions. The Siachen Glacier (76 km (47 mi) long) and the Biafo Glacier (63 km (39 mi) long) are the second and third biggest glaciers outside the polar areas. etc.
